Python-Orekit in PyPI?
I started dabbling with the Python wrapper to Orekit. My testing CI stuff is currently working with pip (because cobbling together an environment from conda is a bit more painful). I was wondering whether you would put this package on PyPI. It is actually less of a hassle than conda-forge.
My problem is pip install orekit
fails within the the project venv handled by Conda (satkit
). But it seems to be OK in the Conda base
venv. At any rate, CircleCI doesn't like it, because it uses pip to create the environment on the fly and there is no orekit there.
(base) XX@YY:~/Projects/PycharmProjects/satkit$ pip install orekit
Requirement already satisfied: orekit in /home/XX/anaconda3/lib/python3.9/site-packages (11.3)
(base) XX@YY:~/Projects/PycharmProjects/satkit$ conda activate satkit
(satkit) XX@YY:~/Projects/PycharmProjects/satkit$ pip install orekit
ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement orekit (from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for orekit
And checking for orekit install in the satkit
environment:
(satkit) XX@YY:~/Projects/PycharmProjects/satkit$ conda install -c conda-forge orekit
Collecting package metadata (current_repodata.json): done
Solving environment: done
# All requested packages already installed.
(satkit) XX@YY:~/Projects/PycharmProjects/satkit$ pip install orekit
ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement orekit (from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for orekit
Thanks for the great project! My aim is to extend your work by building higher level functionalities to Orekit in Python (common analyses, plots, initialising special orbits etc.).
